Leaves of the caudices 7-14 mm. long, or rarely somewhat shorter, parchment-like, crowded, but more or less spreading, the blades narrowly lanceolate to subulate, slenderly spine-tipped, ciliate; flower-stalks 8-15 cm. tall, glabrate or finely glandular-pubescent, bearing several leayes which are smaller than those of the caudices ; sepals ovate, sometimes rather narrowly so, 1.5-3 mm. long, wholly glabrous or sparingly ciliate, obtuse; petals white, often yellow-spotted, oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 5-6.5 mm. long, or rarely shorter, clawless; filaments subulate; follicles 5.5-9 mm. long.
Type locality : Cascade Mountains of Washington.
Distribution : Alberta to British Columbia, Washington, Montana and New Mexico.
