Leaf -blades ovate, orbicular, ororbicular-reuiform, pandurately 5-7-lobed, 5-12 cm. long, usually mucronate, glabrous or nearly so above, copiously fine-pubescent beneath, cordate at the base, rather long-petioled ; peduncles and pedicels copiously pubescent ; sepals ovate, often broadly so, 3.5-4.5 mm. long, the glands fully one half the length of the sepal-body; larger petals 11-13 cm. long; samaras 3-4 cm. long, the ventral edge of the wing with an obtuse auricle at the base, the body crested.
Type locality : Tropical America.
Distribution: Hispaniola.
