Leaf-blades ovate, oval, or ovate-lanceolate, mostly 2-12 cm. long, acute or shortacuminate at the apex, rather copiously pale-pubescent above, densely whiteor silverypubescent beneath, short-petioled ; sepals ovate, usually broadly so, about 3 mm. long, copiously pubescent, the glands over one half the length of the sepal-body ; larger petals 7-8 mm. long; samaras 2.5-3 cm. long, the ventral edge of the wing broadly rounded and even, the body spiny-tuberculate.
Type locality : Colombia.
Distribution : Guatemala to Panama and northern South America.

Leaf-blades ovate or oblong, 3-10 cm. long, slightly or abruptly acuminate at the apex, dull and finely, often obscurely, pubescent above, silvery-pubescent beneath with short silkj' hairs, acute or acutish at the base, short-petioled ; sepals ovate to oblong-ovate, 3-4 mm. long, glandless, copiously pubescent ; larger petals 9-10 mm. long ; samaras 4-5 cm. long, the ventral edge of the wing undulate, the body spiny-tuberculate.
Type locality : Rio Branco, Brazil.
Distribution : Guatemala to Panama, northern South America, and Brazil.
