Ferula sinaica is a perennial, glaucous herbaceous plant that reaches up to 0.6-2 m high with fusiform roots. The stems are 1-1.5 cm thick, solid, terete, and striate. The lower leaves are divided into 3-4 pinnatisect linear segments with revolute margins and mucronate-callose apex; while the upper leaves are with segments less dissected than in lower leaves and possess lanceolate sheaths. Flowers are yellow and arranged in much-branched 7-12-rayed umbels. The fruit is an elliptic-obovate, furrowed schizocarp with prominent, marginally winged ribs, and 2-3 oil ducts per furrow.
