Leaves are oval to triangular in outline, usually 2-4 cm long and 3-lobed, with coarse teeth. Flowers are 1.5-4 cm wide and have 5 glossy yellow petals. Flowering is from spring to autumn. Found in grassland and woodland habitats that are moist (at least over the warmer months). Native biodiversity. Largely ignored by stock, although it is sometimes sparingly grazed by cattle. It can cause blindness in horses, but this is only likely to occur when there is a feed shortage and abundant buttercups.
