Stylocephalid gregarines, epimerite elongated into a neck, with subapical tumidus; gametocysts covered by papillae, with residuum (pseudocyst); oocysts purse-like, usually emerging in long chains, in insects; type species: S. oblongatus (Hammerschmidt, 1838) Watson, 1916.
