Sporangia gregarious or clustered, globose or ovate, 0.5-0.7 mm. in diameter, stipitate or sessile, rarely plasmodiocarpous, white or gray; peridium thin, translucent, pure white, sparsely flecked with white, calcareous nodules; stalk, when present, thin, delicate, straw-yellow, sulcate, more or less twisted, usually not exceeding the height of the sporangium; capillitium delicate, the tubes of uniform diameter throughout; hypothallus scanty, pale yellowish; spores free, globose or somewhat angular, dark violaceous-brown, closely and irregularly warted, usually with clusters of darker warts, and with a very coarse network of 1-6 meshes to the hemisphere covering the surface of many of the spores, 12-16 /* in diameter.
Type locality: Colorado.
Habitat: Dead stems of Yucca and cacti, rarely on bark.
Distribution: New York to Washington (state) ; Panama; Puerto Rico; Galapagos.
