Limonium arboreum is a species of sea lavender known by the common name tree limonium and siempreviva. It is endemic to the Canary Islands, where it is a plant of coastal habitat.
This is a tough perennial herb growing from a woody rhizome. The thick leaves are oval in shape and up to about 30 centimeters long including the petioles, located in a basal rosette about the stem. The inflorescence is a stiff, branching panicle often exceeding a meter tall bearing large clusters of flowers. The flowers have lavender sepals and smaller white petals.
It is also known from coastal southern California, where it is a non-native landscaping escapee which can occasionally be seen growing around beaches and roadsides.
Mr George Penny of the Milford Nursery, was the first to cultivate of the Statice arborca in 1838 in the UK after it was sent from the Canary Islands. It had been sold originally for the high price of 25 guineas.[2]
It was first published as Limonium arboreum in Fl. Medit. 22: 65 in 2012.[1]

Limonium arborescens es un planta perenne perteneciente a la familia de las plumbagináceas. Es un endemismo de las Islas Canarias, donde recibe el nombre común de siempreviva y tiene un hábito costero.
L.arborescens es un endemismo tinerfeño, muy raro en su hábitat natural, aunque se utiliza en jardinería. Se diferencia dentro del género por ser un arbusto alto, que puede sobrepasar el metro de altura, con hojas con peciolo largo, enteras y ovadas, con margen eroso y con escapo floral estrechamente alado. Esta especie se incluye en el Catálogo de Especies Amenazadas de Canarias, como sensible a la alteración de su hábitat, en la isla de Tenerife.[1]
Limonium arborescens fue descrita por (Brouss. ex Webb & Berthel.) Kuntze y publicado en Revisio Generum Plantarum 2: 395. 1891.[2][3]
Limonium: nombre genérico que procede del griego leimon, que significa "pradera húmeda", aludiendo al hábitat de muchas de las especies del género.[4]
arborescens: epíteto latino que significa "con tamaño o forma arbórea", aludiendo al mayor tamaño de esta planta respecto a otras especies del género.[5]
