Diagnosis: last simple dorsal-fin ray smooth on hind margin; scale formula 3.5/19-21/2.5; 1.5 scales between lateral line and pelvic-fin base; 8-9 scales around caudal peduncle; lateral-line scales distinctly larger than other scales on sides; 8 branched dorsal fin rays; no barbels; lateral line incomplete, deeply depressed below dorsal fin; maximum reported size 23 mm SL; back blackish; dorsal and anal fins with black band; black bar on eye (Ref. 2940, 81282). Description: very small species; mouth small and terminal, without barbels; lateral line incomplete, reduced to a few pored scales; D:III,8; A:III,5; P:14; V:I,7 (Ref. 2940, 81282).Coloration: yellowish on back in life, with black-edged scales; black stripe on each side of head from snout to gill cover; oblique reddish stripe and 1 or 2 black stripes on dorsal and anal fins (Ref. 2940, 81282).
