Cicadetta kansa is known from Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas (U.S.A.). Its distribution is coincident with the shortgrass prairie, mixed grass prairie, and desert grassland ecotypes. (Sanborn & Phillips 2013)
