Acantholimon is a huge genus of Asian, mountainous species. A. libanoticum is one of the westermonst species, growing in the Lebanon Mts and Mt Hermon, where this pic was taken. It blooms in July after most other plants are drying. It is a cushion-like spiny plant, typical for the sub-alpine (Tragacanth) belt.
