Stem and branches pubescent when young ; leaf-blades ovate or ovate-lanceolate, varying to oblong, 1-3 cm. long, acute, abruptly pointed, or somewdiat acuminate, sparingly pubescent when young, short-petioled ; panicles many-flowered, the rachis and the branches pubescent ; sepals oblong to ovate-oblong, 3-4 mm. long, obtuse ; corolla yellow, the petals 6-10 mm. long, the larger ones with very broad cordate blades ; mature carpels 2.5-3 mm. wide, somewhat longer than wide, pubescent and prickly.
