Leaf-blades oblong, ovate-oblong, or ovate, 2-5 cm. long, mucronate, green and sparingly appressed-pubescent above, pale and copiously appressed-pubescent beneath, obtuse or rounded at the base, petioled, sometimes rather long-petioled ; sepals oblong to ovate, 4-5 mm. long, the glands one half as long as the sepal-body or less ; petals yellow, the larger ones 9-12 mm. long, the blades laciniate-denticulate ; free portions of the filaments subulate, much longer than the tube; samaras V-shaped, 15-20 mm. long, the upper lobes ovate.
Type locality : Malpays de Naulingo, Veracruz.
Distribution : Mexico and Central America.

Gaudichaudia webbiana A. Juss. Ann. Sci Nat. II. 13: 152. 1840. Leaf-blades oblong-ovate, 2.5-4.5 cm. long, mucronate, rather sparingly pubescent above, copiously pubescent beneath, but partially glabrous in age, cordate at the base, very short-petioled or nearly sessile; sepals oblong to oval, 3-4 mm. long, the glands about one half the length of the sepal-body ; petals yellow, the larger ones 6-8 mm. long, the blades suborbicular to oval, denticulate ; free portions of the filaments triangular-subulate, longer than the tube ; samaras suborbicular or reniform, 10-12 mm. long, rounded or emarginate at the apex, each with a dorsal wing-like keel.
