Shrub or slender tree. Bark pale grey-brown smooth; young branches hairless with reddish lenticels. Leaves spirally arranged, imparipinnate, up to 30 cm long mostly with 3-4 pairs of leaflets; leaflets elliptic-oblong with a driptip, 8-14 cm long, thinly textured, hairless; margin entire, sometimes wavy; petiolules short. Flowers in axillary spikes or racemes and on the old wood, unisexual on different trees, white or cream. Fruit with 2-3 ovoid carpels, up to 2.5 × 2 cm, joined at the base, orange-yellow, sometimes velvety.
