Annual or perennial herbs bearing conspicuously stellate-hairy indumentum. Leaves petiolate; lamina ovate. Inflorescences cymose, usually axillary sometimes forming a terminal panicle. Sepals 5, unequal. Corolla purple, violet or white with purple centre. Ovary 2-locular. Style 1; stigmas oblong to spherical. Seeds hairy.
