Brief Summary

provided by EOL authors
Adenia pechuelii is a succulent desert plant with extremely narrow distribution. The species is endemic to the Namib Desert within Namibia, and is restricted to the Skeleton Coast portion of the Namib Desert between Walvis Bay and the Kunene River. It occurs on arid rocky habitats, and, in fact, anchors its thick caudex within crevices in what appears to be expanses of soil-less rock accumbulations.

This plant is well adapted to thrive in conditions of less than one centimeter of precipitation per annum. It grows to a height of one meter, and it manifests a thick fleshy caudex that is approximately 50 centimeters in diameter.
