Physalis virginiana (Virginia Groundcherry) is a species of perennial herb in the family nightshades. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to The Contiguous United States and Canada. They have simple, broad leaves and berries. Flowers are visited by Sphecodes heraclei, Mordellistena aspersa, Amorpha Borer, and Coelioxys alternata. Individuals can grow to 0.46 m.
