Plants with tufted usually strigose stems and branches ; leaf-blades linear or lanceolate, or those of the lower leaves sometimes ovate, oblong, or oval, mostly 1-4 cm. long, acute or abruptly pointed or obtuse, with 2 glands near the base, paler beneath than above, shortpetioled ; panicles loosely few-flowered, the rachis strigillose ; sepals oblong to lanceolate, 3-4 mm. long ; corolla yellow, turning reddish, the larger petals 4-5 mm. long, the blades triangular-ovate to oblong-ovate ; capsules 3-4 mm. long, the faces slightly wrinkled ; seeds about 1.5 mm. long, shining.
Type locality : Cape San Lucas, Lower California.
Distribution : Texas and northern Mexico.
