Dodecatheon alpinum growing here along a stream with Saxifraga odontoloma (Brook saxifrage) which has the wide reniform (kidney-shaped) to orbicular leaves that are crenate-dentate (and which has the unraveling stems in the center with the shootingstar stems, and is also the plant with the white flowers to the far left). . Species is disjunct in northern Utah and somewhat rare here although is not a "tracked" species and has some scattered populations in different parts of the state.8/7/2010 approx 9800 ft., Alta area, Salt Lake County, UT
