Chrysosplenium oppositifolium Walt. Fl. Car. 140. 1788. Not C. opposiiifolium ly. 1753.
Perennial with a slender stoloniferous rootstock ; stems decumbent, forked above, glabrous or nearly so, 7-20 cm. long ; lower leaves opposite, the uppermost alternate ; petioles in all short ; blades broadly ovate, orbicular or somewhat reniform, truncate or obtuse at the base, 4-20 mm. wide ; flowers sessile, usually solitary in the axils of the leaves ; sepals yellowish or purplish within ; stamens usually 8.
Type locality : Canada.
Distribution : In wet shaded places, Nova Scotia to Saskatchewan, south to Georgia and Minnesota.
