The holotype (USNM 34226) and paratypes (USNM 34220 & USNM 38179) of this species were collected in Panama from South of Rey Island (Centroid Latitude: 7.9500, Centroid Longitude: -78.9167), Perlas Archipelago, Gulf of Panama, eastern Pacific, North Pacific Ocean, by the R. V. Albatross from a depth of 60 m. Other speciemens of this species have been collected in Panama from:

-East of Punta Mala, Azuero Peninsula (USNM E 14497 & USNM E 14257; Centroid Latitude: 7.6583, Centroid Longitude: -79.6783, depth 117 m),

-centre of the Gulf of Panama (USNM E 14500; Centroid Latitude: 7.9950, Centroid Longitude: -79.8283, depth 53 m)

-West of Cape Escapado (USNM E 14261; Centroid Latitude: 7.9917, Centroid Longitude: -78.5050, depth 55 m)
