Pteris is a genus of herb in the family Pteridaceae. They are native to US Minor Outlying Islands, Puerto Rico, The Contiguous United States, Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii. They have compound, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 8.7 m. They have alternation of generations.
