Shell 1.8-2 mm high, moderately solid, with a large protoconch of 2.5 whorls and teleoconch of 2.5 whorls. Sculpture of protoconch of minute granules in spiral rows hardly visible through the optical microscope. Teleoconch sculpture of fine spiral cords, narrower than interspaces and delicate, somewhat flexuous axial ribs forming a fine lattice with the cords. Aperture with outer lip slightly thickened externally, smooth inside. Colour pale buff with a subsutural series of brown spots, and a larger brown spot towards the abapical part of outer lip.

Eastern Atlantic, from Norway to the strait of Gibraltar, intertidal to ca. 100 m depth; rare and rather local in the Western Mediterranean in 50-200 m. Gorringe and Ampère seamounts, rare in 265-320 m.
