A leafy annual; stem erect, 2-3 dm. high, with spreading branches, puberulent along two decurrent lines; leaves linear, 1.5-2.5 cm. long, 1-2. S mm. wide, slightly if at all connate, with 4-10 pairs of bristles below the middle; glands in a single row along each margin, and a few scattered ones; heads more or less aggregate at the ends of the branches; peduncles 1-10 mm. long; involucre 5 mm. high, 2.5-3 mm. broad; bracts 5, narrowly oblong, obtuse; ray-
