Locomotive form monopodial with a wide, but reduced, anterior hyaline zone. Posterior of cell smooth or with a small uroid, never with a villous knob. Nucleus spherical with a central nucleolus. Mitochondria with helical cristae. No cytoplasmic crystals. No cysts. At the ultrastructural level, surface with cup-like structures some 30 nm in diameter. Type species, C. limacoides (Page, 1967). Habitat: freshwater, N. America and Europe.
