Erect or ascending glabrous annual, 20-50 cm. Stems not succulent, purplish. Leaves: lamina up to 4.5 × 0.6 cm (many leaves smaller), linear to narrowly oblanceolate; apex obtuse; base narrowed to a petiole-like base; margin irregularly and very shallowly crenate. Calyculus 0. Capitula base truncate, 10-13 mm in diameter (incl. rays). Phyllaries c.13, equal, in 1 series, 5-6 mm. Rays present, 11-13; ligule 4-5 mm, orange-yellow. Achenes c.1.5 mm, papillose. Pappus of numerous white setae, 2-3 mm.
