A glabrous annual; stem cymosely branched, 5-7 dm. high; leaves opposite, simple, linear, sessile and somewhat connate-clasping at the base, 5-10 cm. long, rather distantly serrate, the lower teeth ciliate-tipped; heads few in open cymes; involucre cylindro-elliptic, slightly narrowed at both ends, glandular-punctate only above the middle; bracts 5, with triangular sometimes apiculate tips; ray-flowers 2-4; ligules slightly exceeding the disk, 2 mm. long, erect; disk-corollas 5 mm. long; tube equaling the trumpet-shaped throat; achenes 6 mm. long, slightly scabrous on the angles; 2 or 3 of the squamellae bristle-like, 6 mm. long, the other 3 or 2 oblong, 1.5 mm. long.
Type locality: Base of Sierra Madre. Chihuahua. Distribution: Chihuahua to State of Mexico.
