Test free, relatively small (a few mm long), of fragile, brittle consistency and consisting of tubular or inflated chambers, sometimes with short side branches. Chambers sometimes arranged in series although isolated chambers often occur through fragmentation. Apertures located at ends of tubular or approximately conical processes. Interior occupied by anastomosing stercomare strings and branching granellare strands. Wall thin, composed mainly of mineral grains. Occurrence: Widely distributed in deepwater. Type species Aschemonella scabra Brady, 1879.
