Melanoleuca terraeolens (Peck) Murrill
Agaricus {Tricholoma) terraeolens Peck, Ann. Rep. N, Y. State Mus. 38: 84. 1885.
Pileus thin, convex or nearly plane, 1-1.5 cm. broad; surface slightly silky-fibrillose, whitish with a brownish or grayish-brown, slightly prominent disk ; context with a strong and unpleasant odor and taste; lamellae subdistant, emarginate, white; spores subglobose or broadly ellipsoid, 6-7.5X5-6.5 /j.; stipe equal, slightly silky, shining, stuffed or hollow, white, 2.5-4 cm. long, about 4 mm. thick.
Type locality: South Ballston, New York.
Habitat: Under ground-hemlock.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
