Test (round, bilayered pellicle; outer layer gelatinous 8-12 ìm; has fine denticles; inner layer thin chitinoid; undulates with internal movements, sac-like, pseudostome invaginated, variable. Size 125 - 200 ìm. Pseudopods: cylindroid, finely granular, rounded ends. Movements sluggish. Endoplasm: clear, violet; yellow granules in purple vesicles (digestion products of cyanobacteria?). One ovular nucleus. Contractile vacuoles: 20 to 30 µm. Crystals: none. Cysts reported. Feeding: algivore. Habitat: sphagnum mosses.
Description of Diplochlamys

Test small round, greyish-yellow; bilayered: inner hyaline sac enclosing the cell with flexible aperture, outer layer consists of loosely arranged debris. Size: 40 to 60 µm. Pseudopods: clear, 10 to 20 µm long, tapered, nearly pointed. Endoplasm: granular, one vesicular Nucleus. Feeding: herbivore. Habitat: mosses on trees, soil. Type species: Diplochlamys leidyi Greeff, 1888.
Description of Microcorycia
provided by BioPedia
Test composed of flexible membrane, aboral part like a dome, sometimes with concentric ridges or small horns at the dorsal side, covered with small debris or mineral, particles. Test: bowl-shaped, brown, extends as membranous border at rim, pursed shut around body. Most species smaller than 100 µm. Pseudopods: lobate, through aperture. Ectoplasm: pale, at tips of pseudopods. Endoplasm: granular, yellowish to reddish, some species with Glycogen spheres (2 to 5 µm). One ovular Nucleus. Cyst: external (Hallas, 1975). Feeding: herbivore. Habitat: dry mosses. Type species: Microcorycia flava (Greeff, 1866).
Description of Zonomyxa

Test discoid (resting form) 140 to 160 µm, locomotive, pyriform, 220 to 250 µm long. Test: chitinoid pellicle, without mucilaginous envelope, flexible, follows the movements of the cell. Surface with small temporal perforations through which thin plasma threads emerge. Pseudopods: single, clear, conical, from slit-like pseudostome. Endoplasm: granular, violet tinted. Up to 32 vesicular nuclei. Crystalloid bodies: 3 to 5 µm. Feeding: herbivore. Habitat: sphagnum mosses. Type species: Zonomyxa violacea.
