Medium-sized deciduous tree. The bark has a coppery tinge. Leaves compound with up to 11 pairs of leaflets and a terminal leaflet. Leaves markedly discolorous, the upper surface green, the lower grey with dense felty hairs. Individual flowers small but produced in sweetly scented spikes up to 14 cm long, cream to pale yellow in colour, and borne when the trees are leafless. Sexes are separate, the female spikes being shorter and more compact than the male spikes.

Lannea discolor

Lannea discolor, the live-long, is a plant species in the family Anacardiaceae. It is found from the DRC to Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Eswatini.[1] It similar in appearance to L. schweinfurthii which has a largely overlapping distribution.
