Diagnostic Description

Hind tibiae without apical spurs; basicosta without strong setae; third antennal segment with a strong dorsobasal forward pointed spine which often reaches to or beyond the end of the basal flagellomere; eyes bare; not a stout, bee-like species; antennal scape not greatly elongated; frontal callus as wide as the front; mesoscutum transversely banded; frontoclypeus and genae tomentose; body not entirely black; at least the fifth tergite with a pale hind border; proximal margin of the wing fascia almost step-like, passing through the fork of veins R4 and R5; basal hyaline area only slightly or not at all yellowish; abdominal yellow bands even, not over half the width of the segments, that on the fifth tergite often reduced to a small patch.
