Diagnostic Description

Hind tibiae with apical spurs; antennal flagellum never with more than 5 distinct flagellomeres; ocelli present; wings nearly always with a dark crossband; frontoclypeus bare and shining; discal cell of wing entirely dark; apical spot of wing extensive, filling most of the wing apex; hind femora at least basal one-third black; abdomen wholly black, or rarely with the pattern of calogaster faintly indicated in grayish tomentum; pleuron always all black; cloud on the fork of veins R4 and R5 never joined by a complete bridge to crossband.
