Diagnostic Description

Hind tibiae with apical spurs; antennal flagellum with 8 distinct flagellomeres; ocelli present; eyes densely pilose; cell m3 of the wing always open, cell r5 open or closed and petiolate; legs not bicolored; abdomen largely black pilose; small species, wing length usually less than 12 mm; antennae bright yellow; wings smoky hyaline; abdominal tergites 5-7 sparsely white haired and often with median white triangles on tergites 3-4.
