Comprehensive Description

provided by Smithsonian Contributions to Zoology
Isomyia borneensis (Peris)

Thelychaeta borneensis Peris, 1951, p. 247.

This species was described (Peris, 1951) and redescribed in more detail (Peris, 1952) from a single female, erroneously stated to be a male in the type citation in the second work. I have seen six specimens which conform with Peris’ descriptions for the most part; the femora, described as metallic green or violet, are variable as to the extent of that color; and the abdomen is distinctly pollinose dorsally, at least in large part, if viewed at an angle. New records are: 2, 1, Borneo, Kupat, 7–15, September 1927, British Museum (Natural History); 2 , Borneo, Bettotan, 18 August 1927, British Museum (Natural History); 1 , Sumatra, Fort de Koch, 920 meters, 1925, E. Jacobson, Amsterdam Museum.

Isomyia spp

A considerable residue of material, forming, along with I. delectans, I. pictifacies, and I. electa, a part of the delectans complex, must await further study after accumulation of more material.
