They are native to Maranhao, Alagoas, SãO Paulo, Piauí, Roraima, Tocantins, Caatinga, Pantanal, Amapá, Santa Catarina, Mata Atlântica, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Ceará, Pernambuco, RondôNia, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande Do Sul, Sergipe, Paraná, Espirito Santo, Pampa, GoiáS, Puerto Rico, Amazônia, Cerrado, Bahia, ParaíBa, Mato Grosso, Pará, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Acre (Brazil), Rio De Janeiro, Distrito Federal, and U.S. Virgin Islands. They have achenes. Flowers are visited by Nomia candida, Eurema blanda arsakia, Megisba malaya sikkima, and Ceratina ericia. Individuals can grow to 10 dm.
