Appears to be the only New World species of Heimioporus with alveolate-reticulate spores.

Red pileus, dry, yellow flesh (rarely bluing). Yellow tubes and pores (rarely lightly red-pored), and usually not bluing. Stipe usually red and reticulate.
Oak forest in Costa Rica; mixed pine/oak in Mexico & Belize.
