Notes. This genus was revised by Agrain (2013). Megalostomis currently includes 43 species (Agrain 2014). According to Agrain & Roig-Juñent (2011) this genus is supported by two synapomorphies: eyes strongly emarginated, and dorsal plate of aedeagus with straight margin. The morphology in the genus is highly variable, especially for sexual dimorphic features in males such as: a greater development of mandibles, the presence of constrictions in the pronotal disc, development of double infraocular projection and lengthening of forelegs (Agrain 2013).
