Parotocinclus haroldoi[1] is a species of catfish in the family Loricariidae. It is native to South America, where it is known from the state of Piauí in Brazil, with a 2020 redescription defining its range as the Parnaíba River basin.[2] The species reaches 3.5 cm (1.4 inches) SL.[3]
The fish is named in honor of ichthyologist Heraldo A. Britski of the Universidade de São Paulo, who loaned Garavello the type specimens, and revised Garavello’s manuscript, and contributed many ideas for the manuscripts improvement.[4]

Parotocinclus haroldoi is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van de harnasmeervallen (Loricariidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1988 door Garavello.

Загальна довжина сягає 3,5 см. Голова доволі широка, трохи сплощена зверху. Морда у самця більш довга і гостра. Очі невеличкі. На кінці рота є маленькі вирости. Задня скронева кістка неперфорована. Тулуб подовжений, приосадкуватий, вкритий кістковими пластинками. На череві є маленькі кісткові бляшки. Спинний плавець низький, довгий. Грудні та черевні плавці широкі, проте останні поступаються розмірами першим. Жировий плавець відсутній. У самців біля анального плавця присутній генітальний горбок. Хвостовий плавець витягнутий, усічений.
Забарвлення чорно-коричневе з жовтими і помаранчевими плямами. Нижня частина сірувато-жовта. Хвостовий плавець з 3 вертикальними смугами золотавого кольору. Змінює забарвлення в залежності від кольору ґрунту. Якщо останній світлий, то й забарвлення цього сома світліше.
Є демерсальною рибою. Віддає перевагу воді, насиченій киснем. Зустрічаються в мілководних річках і струмках з піщаним дном. Злякавшись, закопується в ґрунт. Активна вдень. Живиться водоростевими обростаннями, м'якими водоростями.
Мешкає у річках штату Піауї (Бразилія).
