Description: English: Fourth instar nymph (L4) of the variegated grasshopper of stink locust (Zonocerus variegatus) photographed on cassava on 16/02/05 at the Biological Control Centre for Africa (International Institute of Tropical Agriculture) in Cotonou, Benin, by Christiaan Kooyman. The fourth instar can be recognised from the older instars by the shorter wing buds and from the younger ones by the fact that the wing buds have turned the right side up. Date: 16 February 2005.
