Description: English: Female of the variegated grasshopper or stink locust (Zonocerus variegatus) photographed on 16/02/05 on a cassava plant at the Biological Control Centre for Africa (International Institute of Tropical Agriculture) in Cotonou, Benin, by Christiaan Kooyman. The females are almost always brachypterous (with short wings). The ovipositor can be clearly seen at the tip of the abdomen. Date: 16 February 2005. Source: Own work. Author: Christiaan Kooyman.
