Perithecia in irregular, dense, cespitose clusters as large as 5 mm. in diameter, consisting of 20-100 perithecia each ; individual perithecia subcylindric, tapering above into an obtuse ostiolum which in mature specimens is quite prominent, at first covered with a yellowishfurfuraceous coat, finally amber ; asci clavate, tapering above, about 100X15/«; spores crowded in the ascus, large, fusoid, straight or curved, 1-septate, with several large oildrops in each cell, slightly constricted at the septum, pale-brown, becoming striate, 35-48 X 10-12 II ; paraphyses indistinct.
On bark and rotten wood. Type locality : Castillo Viejo, Nicaragua. Distribution : Known only from the type locality.
