I found this beetle buzzing low over some mulched wood, which is likely a breeding site. They are easily mistaken for a bee, and I see a few every spring. Length is 16 mm. When handled, all members of this genus "play dead", some for many minutes. I had to keep this one undisturbed for about 15 minutes for it to start crawling about.-BugGuide account--Euphoria inda

Ventral view shows the fuzziness of this beetle--quite remarkable. To me, they look almost like teddy bears.-BugGuide account--Euphoria inda
