Xerophyllum tenax (Basket Grass) is a species of perennial herb in the family Melanthiaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Canada, The Contiguous United States, Western North America, United States, and North America. They have simple, broad leaves, white flowers, and loculicidal capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Melangyna triangulifera, Ornate Checkered Beetle, Honey bee, and Snowy Andrena. Individuals can grow to 5 feet.
