Pouteria caimito (Abiu) is a species of tree in the family Sapotaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Mata Atlântica, Amazônia, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo, Santa Catarina, Tocantins, Mato Grosso, Acre (Brazil), Maranhao, Pará, Ceará, Rio De Janeiro, Paraná, Cerrado, Sergipe, RondôNia, Roraima, Alagoas, SãO Paulo, Amapá, ParaíBa, and Pernambuco. They have simple, broad leaves and berries. Individuals can grow to 25 m.
