They are native to Pará, Cerrado, Amazônia, Acre (Brazil), Rio De Janeiro, Roraima, The Neotropics, Maranhao, Mato Grosso, Pernambuco, GoiáS, SãO Paulo, Bahia, Mata Atlântica, Sergipe, and Minas Gerais. They have simple, broad leaves and loculicidal capsule fruit. Individuals can grow to 17 m.
