Mycale (Naviculina) thaumatochela Lundbeck 1905

Classification

provided by World Register of Marine Species
Van Soest et al. (2021: 146) contest the present subgenus assignment of M. thaumatochela because the naviculichelae are shaped differently with the lower frontal alae not fused with the upper alae, and also the ectosomal skeleton is not aegogropila-like as in all other Naviculina species. Van Soest et al. suggest it could be more likley a member of the sugneus Carmia. This is here left undecided until better preserved specimens will be described.
