Diagnosed from congeners by the possession of the following characters: large eye, diameter 26-29% HL, equal to or larger than snout length; conical snout, not stout, terminal mouth; thickened skin especially in adults during spawning season; scales distinct or not, covering whole body, often narrowly to widely separated in particular in pre-pelvic area; lateral line interrupted or not, usually ending on caudal peduncle; and pored lateral line scales usually 54-70 (Ref. 59043).

Delminichthys adspersus (or spotted minnow; Croatian: imotska gaovica[3][4]) is a species of cyprinid fish.

It is found in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. Its natural habitats are rivers, intermittent rivers, freshwater lakes, and inland karsts.[2]

It is threatened by habitat loss.[1]
