Amauroderma avellaneum Murrill, sp. nov
Pileus woody, rather thick, flabelliform, laterally attached, 6X6X1 cm.; surface pulverulent to glabrous, very rugose, colliculose behind, slightly sulcate, thinly encrusted, opaque, avellaneous with faint reddish-brown zones ; margin pallid, acute, lobed, pulverulent : context corky with horny radiations, pale-isabelline when dry, 3-4 mm. thick ; hymenium free; tubes long and slender, not stratified, 1 cm. long behind, shorter in front, white within, mouths circular, 4 to a mm., edges obtuse, entire, white : stipe long, ascending, subcylindrical with several short aborted branches, straight, laterally attached, um-
brinous, opaque, horny-encrusted, firm and nearly white within, 15 cm. long, 1 cm. thick.
Type collected in Nicaragua, on decayed wood, C. L. Smith. Distribution : Known only from the type locality.
