They are native to North America, The Contiguous United States, Canada, Western North America, and United States. They have compound, broad leaves, white flowers, and drupes. Flowers are visited by Andrena washingtoni, Black Tail Bumble Bee, Honey bee, and Coenonympha california california. Individuals can grow to 2 feet.
